What's Up With Me The severity of the fires in Maui was
really surprising to me: I did not think that such a situation was likely in Hawaii. After all, it’s not a heavily forested region, and I typically associate wildfires with forests. What I learned is that the fires in Maui were driven by invasive dry grass. It was surprising to learn how dangerous grass fires can be, and reminded me of a valuable lesson: the danger of seemingly harmless developments. There are so many risks that we have trouble imagining because we don’t really know about them, everything from business risks to health risks to financial risks to relationship risks. It’s wise to avoid growing complacent and to scan the horizon constantly for risks and dangers; without such attention, our projects, hopes, and endeavors can go up in smoke.
