Wise Decision Maker Guide: Wise Decisions Through Cognitive Science
Greetings Decision maker,

In celebration of March as Women’s History Month and March 8 as International Women’s Day, let’s talk about making money! Do you care about your bottom line? Then you should try to hire women instead of men.

This is true regardless of whether you factor in diversity considerations. Separately from the beneficial financial, social, and cultural impact of having a diverse workforce, hiring women over men makes dollars and sense.

You might be surprised to hear this coming from a man. Well, don’t be. I always go with research-based findings from cognitive neuroscience and behavioral economics, even if the conclusions of these studies go against my own identity. And the research is clear: companies with male-dominated teams perform worse than companies with gender-balanced teams.

What’s Up With Me

Remember my featured speech at the Cross Timbers SHRM HR Leadership conference in Stephenville, TX, on February 11? Well, I got a lovely email afterward from one of the attendees, who allowed me to share her email and name after the conference.

speech at the Cross Timbers SHRM HR Leadership conference
I’ll be doing a lot of travel next week. On March 10 I’m flying to Minneapolis to give a workshop at the Forum for Workplace Inclusion, then going to Washington, DC, for a keynote at the DC CUPA-HR conference on March 12, and then going to a private event at the Risk Management Society in New York City on March 13. I’m staying in NYC for a day after that to celebrate my mom’s 70th birthday: wish her the best of health! Shoot me an email if you’re in any of these places and want to explore meeting up or coming for one of my talks.
