Greetings Decision maker,

Have you ever felt unhappy about a purchase you made despite spending hours reading product descriptions and reviews, comparing dozens of options, and finally choosing what you perceived to be the best deal? I faced the same problem many years ago, when I still lacked the knowledge of effective shopping techniques around buying choices.

We make shopping mistakes because of how our brain is wired and because retailers use human psychology to their advantage by manipulating the shopping process, particularly in digital contexts. Amazon and other retailers want us to spend as much time as possible on their websites to tempt us with a variety of add-ons and options and to cause us FOMO (fear of missing out) on the best possible deal. This drains our time and wallets – and even our happiness.

Fortunately, cutting-edge research in behavioral economics and cognitive neuroscience can help us
avoid the psychological dangers of shopping. To learn how, check out this blog:

Recent Media Appearances

I’ve had a number of recent media appearances about my three recent best-selling books:

    What’s Up With Me

Frankly, the last few months have been exhausting. I haven’t worked so hard since I was writing my PhD: that was in 2010 and I was a decade younger.

On the one hand, I was helping my consulting and coaching clients negotiate the initial stages of managing the pandemic. On the other hand, I was very quickly writing my new book, Resilience: Adapt and Plan for the New Abnormal of the COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic, based on a super-accelerated timeline requested by my publisher, Changemakers Books. Of course, let me be honest and say I wanted to write it quickly, because of the so many atrocious decisions I saw people make, in business and in life, in dealing with the pandemic. It was gratifying to hear from many readers how helpful it was for them in adapting to the current reality and planning for surviving and thriving the pandemic and the post-pandemic recovery; many left their comments in the form of Amazon reviews. It’s also been gratifying to be asked by so many meeting planners to do webinars on the book, such as this recorded one.

Still, I’m feeling pretty burned out. I can use a vacation, or at least a staycation, in the context of my strong antipathy to traveling by plane in the pandemic. Can’t take one yet, because I somehow got myself scheduled to give 6 webinars in 8 days in the next week, but after that, I’m going to take some time off.

And I hope you consider taking some time off and giving yourself a staycation if you’re feeling burned out.
