Disaster Avoidance Experts

Greetings Decision maker,

Angry and dismayed Amazon employees are pushing back against the recently-announced return to office policy by the Amazon leadership. Amazon’s policy joins other high-profile companies such as Disney, Starbucks, Tesla, Google, and others that are forcing employees back to the office.

The authoritarian approach of these companies is well-suited to the assembly line model of the early 20th century, but not for a modern knowledge economy. That’s why we’re seeing employees use worker power to fight against these authoritarian mandates, resulting in empowered labor unions.

Testimonial for Dr Gleb Tsipursky from Natalie Kehres, Program Director at Big Country SHRM

“Dr. Gleb greatly exceeded my expectations! I brought Dr. Gleb in to speak to the members of the Big Country Society of Human Resource Managers and he spoke on using hybrid work to improve retention and productivity while cutting costs for HR professionals I thought the presentation was insightful and full of very encouraging statistics. Dr. Gleb is very professional and very organized and he's also an excellent communicator. His dynamic and highly engaging delivery really impressed all of our members, so I do strongly recommend Dr Gleb to anyone who's ready to take on this new world of hybrid and remote work for the future.

What's Up With Me

As someone with both Ukrainian and Jewish heritage, and with relatives still living in Ukraine and Israel, it has been a terrible time to check the news headlines. One headline would be about a story of Ukrainian children being taken away from their parents by Russian soldiers in occupied territories and sent to be adopted by Russian families. Another would be about an Israeli father whose daughter was taken hostage by Hamas, begging for her return. I’ve already lived with the constant background stress of Ukraine being under Russian attack for over a year and a half, and now another major country where I have relatives and a personal affiliation is experiencing its own explosion of warfare. I wish I could stop reading the news, but as a thought leader, it’s incumbent on me to keep up with what’s going on in the world. So I need to hunker down and prepare for more background anxiety and stress going forward, and deploy self-care to address my needs.

A part of me feels uncomfortable at this train of thought of making what’s happening in Ukraine and Israel about me: my experience is in no way comparable to the suffering, anxiety, and stress of those directly involved in the conflict, of course. But it’s important to have an honest understanding of the impact of these conflicts on my and my mental state, and to do self-care to address my mental wellbeing. Doing so in no way decreases the much bigger burden borne by those in the conflict, and enables me to live my life, do my job, and see what I can do to help.
