Greetings Decision Maker,
As Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI) continues to revolutionize industries, forward-thinking organizations must develop robust strategies to integrate this transformative technology into their operations. A well-executed Gen AI learning program not only equips employees with the skills to leverage these tools effectively but also fosters a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Yet, the path to successful implementation is rarely straightforward. September is pawpaw season in my household. If you don’t know about pawpaws, you’re missing out: this is a fruit native to eastern North America that seems like it belongs in a tropical environment. It has a custard-like consistency with a taste somewhat similar to bananas, perhaps a banana-mango flavor. Unfortunately, it’s not commercially available because it bruises so easily, so you can only get it at farmer’s markets or grow it yourself. My wife and business partner and I decided to risk growing it when we learned about it, even though we never tasted it, and we weren't disappointed: we now have three mature trees that bear dozens of fruit each now that they’re mature. They are delicious, and we have too many to eat at once, so we peel and freeze the fruit in small containers, then thaw them throughout the winter when we want a sweet treat.
It turned out to be a very good decision to plant them even though we never tasted them, and it’s a lesson I remember for the future: sometimes, it’s worth it to take a risk with a lot of uncertainty if it doesn't have too many downsides (cost of trees and labor) but a lot of upside (lots of delicious fruit each year, which would have costs hundreds of dollars at a farmer’s market). So consider taking such risks, you’ll end up better off overall, despite the uncertainty. |
