This week's article reveals seven counterintuitive, research-backed hiring and retention strategies that smart leaders are using to gain a long-term talent advantage. From seizing the opportunity to hire underpriced high performers others are overlooking, to ditching gut-based hiring in favor of structured interviews that beat bias, to enhancing remote work flexibility for both productivity and loyalty, these insights show how to attract and retain top talent when others are retreating. If you're ready to invest when others are pulling back - and reap the rewards - read on.

What's Up With Me

Uncertain economic times indeed. I feel my heart racing faster every time I check my stock portfolio and see the bleeding. It's tempting to check it more often, but I know I won't change anything by doing so, and I certainly don't want to make a wrong-headed move by selling in an unconsidered manner. Yet the emotions are still there - get out, run, don't look back. So much of our decision-making is emotional, even in areas where we should be coldly rational, like investments. Warren Buffet and other prominent investors are well known for winning by keeping their cool and buying when others are selling. It's important to manage our emotions in this stressful, heated time, to cool down and avoid rash decisions, even when our gut feels like it's facing a dangerous threat.
