Greetings Decision maker
,

This week I’m pleased to share my conversation with Simon Dudley, Head of Analyst Relations at Logitech, about why it's important for IT, facilities, and HR to play well together to support Hybrid and Remote Workers.

You can find a transcript of our conversation in this blog.

Recommendations for You

Here are a few pieces of content that I found valuable and hope you will, too:

  • “Searching for Outliers” (article): we tend to perceive outcomes as existing on a continuum and underestimate the value of looking for outlier outcomes. Yet some outcomes are 100X better than average: a better spouse, a better job, a better place to live, a better community, a better friend. How do we spot situations where such outliers are likely to exist and then find such outliers?
  • “Think Hybrid Work Doesn’t Work? The Data Disagrees” (article): this survey assessed 400 employees and leaders of organizations around the world who have worked consistently under some kind of hybrid-work model since the pandemic. Most of those work models delivered below-average outcomes, but one was wildly successful.
  • “Jimmy Wales on Systems and Incentives” (podcast and transcript): on this episode of “Conversations With Tyler,” the founder of Wikipedia Jimmy Wales explains the systems and incentives that make Wikipedia run.

"On behalf of all of Chattanooga PMI, I want to personally thank you for taking the time to prepare and provide a meaningful virtual presentation on Becoming a Hybrid Work Leader via Behavioral Science for Project Managers during our November virtual lunch and learn. You were flexible and easy to work with in preparation for the meeting. We appreciate your efforts to make it engaging and relevant to our audience. It was thought provoking and we had great take-aways that everyone could immediately put into action. We were impressed and grateful to you for providing our audience with useful materials, a copy of your newest book, and making yourself available for coaching. We received positive feedback from the attendees, would recommend you to others, and will definitely reach out to you in the future to present again!"

What's Up With Me

It finally happened: I got COVID. From the start of the pandemic, I committed to being cautious until we had good medications available. After getting vaccinated, I started taking more risks. Once Paxlovid became widely available, I took even less precautions. Now, I’m suffering the consequences.

Of course, a part of me regrets taking the most recent risk that resulted in me getting COVID. And I’m more vulnerable than an average person, since I suffer from anemia. Still, I recognize it’s important to practice harm reduction and balance risks and rewards. I’ll be a bit more risk averse going forward, especially since an initial infection with COVID makes one more vulnerable to worse health outcomes with future infections.

Fortunately, I was able to get Paxlovid. Despite the bitter taste that’s a side effect of Paxlovid, I am very grateful for being able to access it.
