Greetings Decision maker,
We’re now finding out the damaging consequences of the mandated return to office, and it does not look good. A trio of compelling reports – the Greenhouse Candidate Experience Report, the Federal Reserve’s Survey of Household Economics and Decisionmaking (SHED), and Unispace’s “Returning for Good” report – collectively paint a stark picture of this brewing storm.
Unispace finds that nearly half (42%) of companies that mandated office returns witnessed a higher level of employee attrition than they had anticipated. And almost a third (29%) of companies enforcing office returns are struggling with recruitment. Imagine that – nearly half! In other words, they knew it would cause some attrition, but they weren’t ready for the serious problems that would result.

“I met Dr. Gleb about four months ago when he presented a webinar for my SHRM chapter in Southern California, and I was so intrigued by what he had to say about hybrid work environments that I invited him to do a webinar for our clients. I had positive feedback from all of my clients that attended after I sent them a survey, and I read Dr. Gleb's emails weekly and keep up on the latest information he has about hybrid work environments, employees and productivity. It's really important to us also because we will be moving to a virtual environment in August: although most of my employees are remote now, we will be going to a completely remote virtual environment and Dr. Gleb's information has been quite helpful.”

What's Up With Me
Last time, I shared about the robin’s nest I found in my carport after fixing it up. I decided to keep an eye on it and check up on progress, taking photos of the chicks daily. Well, one day I went to take a look at the chicks and they were all gone! Below is the last photo of the chicks I took. You can check out photos from the beginning to the end of the robin chick saga in this Facebook album, all the way from momma bird sitting on the nest, to the eggs, to the chicks just hatching, to them growing up, and the final state of the nest.
It was a special experience to observe this life cycle and makes me more sympathetic to robins through an attachment to these chicks, even though I anticipate they will be stealing our strawberries, cherries, blueberries, peaches, and other berries when those are ready in a month or two. It’s interesting how emotional attachments cause us to change our perspectives and be more tolerant of others, whether animals or humans - and this was a very small attachment, comparatively speaking. It really shows how important it is to be intentional in one’s emotional attachments and choose where to invest relational and emotional energy.
