Greetings Decision Maker,
As debates continue about whether federal employees should return to the office with the Trump administration’s full-time RTO mandate, new research underscores the productivity benefits of remote work for public sector employees. A comprehensive study on government workers reveals that telework can significantly enhance productivity, raising questions about the wisdom of mandating a widespread return to in-person office work. The study’s results suggest that forcing a return to office for the majority of work time could inadvertently harm overall efficiency and morale.

“Dr. Tsipursky gave perhaps the best webinar I was involved with at RIMS. He engaged wonderfully with our members and his virtual presentation attracted a wider, global audience. I look forward to future collaborations.”

I learned a good lesson recently through making a mistake. I wanted to plant some mushrooms, which require logs to grow. I got some logs from neighbors who cut down their tree, and then bought some sawdust mushroom spawn. You’re supposed to drill small holes in the logs, then put the spawn into the holes and seal it with melted wax. Now, the spawn seller was offering a specialized 7/16 inch drill bit that they recommended for the drilling process, but I thought that it was a rip-off to pay over $20 for a drill bit and bought a cheap one for $6. Once I started drilling the logs, it was really tough going. It took a lot of time and effort to drill the logs, and eventually the drill bit broke! I gave up and ordered the expensive drill bit. Boy, I couldn’t believe how much easier it was, at least a 10X improvement in my speed and reduced effort. Next time, I won’t be so cheap and stubborn and focus on getting the right tool for the job! |
