Greetings Decision Maker,

In today’s evolving corporate landscape, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) have long been hailed as vital elements for creating thriving, innovative, and resilient organizations. However, recent years have seen a growing backlash against DEI programs, as well as notable political and cultural controversies that have put these initiatives under intense scrutiny. Critics argue that many DEI programs are overly politicized, superficial, or divisive, leading to a polarized debate that hampers their intended benefits.

Despite the controversy surrounding DEI, the underlying goals—improved hiring practices, fair promotions, and enhanced team collaboration—remain essential to any organization’s success. In response, many experts suggest a shift in focus toward decision-making frameworks grounded in scientific research and objective criteria. These frameworks aim to achieve the same benefits as DEI initiatives, but do so by emphasizing fairness and merit-based processes that sidestep the ideological pitfalls currently associated with DEI.

“Working with Dr. Gleb was a pleasure; he is both easy to work with and fully prepared for interactive discussion. I’ve now attended two of his talks and am very pleased with how relevant his information is. He gives applicable suggestions which are easy to understand and implement. Our team of 70 was very thankful we had him speak at our Quarterly All Hands Meeting. Many of them voiced how much they enjoyed the topic, and thanked (me) for scheduling someone of his expertise … I would highly suggest him as an expert in his field.”

What's Up With Me

Are you scared of heights? Then avoid scrolling down to see the picture below. That’s me on a tiny, swaying suspension bridge at the end of a via ferrata course. Via ferrata, “iron road” in Italian, describes a climbing route equipped with steel cables, ladders, and other metal aids to help people traverse steep or dangerous terrain. Originally built during World War I to move soldiers through the Dolomites, these routes now serve as recreational climbing adventures. You get a harness, lanyards, and a helmet, and climb mostly sideways, crab-like, along a sheer cliff face, with some up-and-down passages, with two guides. I never did it before, and despite being anxiety-inducing, it was a really fun experience! 10/10 would do again. As an additional bonus, it  was a completely free experience offered by my city's local parks, whereas it would ordinarily cost over $100. Thank you to the city government of Columbus, Ohio, for providing this amenity. I’m glad I read local news and learned that the via ferrata opened a few months ago. To me this demonstrates the value of following local as well as national news and being plugged in at least somewhat to your community. Not to mention the benefits of doing something daring, if relatively safe, at times.
