What's Up With Me
I just returned from a two-week workcation in Central and Southern California. Unfortunately my wife and I brought Columbus weather with us, as it was mostly gray and rainy in the LA area when we visited it.
The silver lining of all this rain was that the drought in California was
reduced by all the precipitation. However, the benefits were uneven; some localities made out better than others. Why? One major reason was that some localities built infrastructure meant to capture any rainwater and store it for drier times. Other localities did not, resulting in the water flowing into rivers and then into the ocean. It made me think about ways I can be more like the localities that wisely invested into rain-capturing infrastructure, despite the fact that the drought made rain more rare. After all, when it rains, it pours! So what can you do to prepare yourself to take advantage of rare opportunities right now, so that when the opportunity comes by, you’re ready to seize it?
Here is a photo of
the Venice Canals in Los Angeles, where we took a walk during a break in the rain.
