Greetings Decision Maker,
As AI encroaches on tasks traditionally performed by humans, it forces us to rethink what makes us unique. Historically, identity and value have been tied to specific roles—craftsman, analyst, writer—but these roles are now at risk of being displaced or significantly altered by AI. Instead of viewing AI as a threat, professionals and leaders must focus on areas where human strengths remain indispensable: emotional depth, strategic foresight, and ethical judgment. By embracing this shift, we can redefine what it means to be uniquely human in a technology-driven world.

I recently had the chance to play with Gen AI video generators as I was drafting an email to invite friends for our annual Garden Potluck Party, and I have to say it’s a great illustration of rethinking what makes us unique. Gen AI will make a lot of the skills of video generation obsolete. The crucial skills involved will be in curation - understanding how to empathize with people and have them appreciate a storyline, as well as ethical judgment about what to include and how to present it. We’re in a new world now, and those of us who embrace it earlier will be most likely to thrive. |
