Greetings Decision maker,
Many organizations have shifted their employees to working from home to address the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. This can be a difficult transition in the best of times, so it’s not surprising that many leaders are struggling to manage remote teams and are looking forward to returning to the office.
However, as I described in an earlier Wise Decision Maker Guide, the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic will impact our daily lives for years, not months. So how can organizations ensure the long-term success of their teams while they are working from home?
Fortunately, recent research in cognitive neuroscience and behavioral economics has shown that major decisions, such as shifting to telecommuting, can be successfully implemented with the help of prospective hindsight, meaning looking back in advance. Prospective hindsight helps you anticipate and avoid threats as well as notice and seize opportunities. Thus, you can defend yourself against failures and maximize the likelihood of success in major projects and processes, and in
implementing decisions.

Recent Media Appearances
I’ve had a number of recent media
appearances around adapting to the new normal of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
Audio interview with C-Suite Network on leading during a slow-moving train wreck
Video interview with Industrial Talk on gaining market share and business resiliency in a post COVID-19 world.

What’s Up With Me
Based on my early writing about preparing for the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic in prominent venues such as Business Insider, NonProfit PRO, and Inc., Changemakers Books invited me to write a book on this topic, tentatively titled Resilience: Adapt and Plan for the New Abnormal of the COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic. The publication date was just moved up from June 1 to May 1, so I’m spending most of my waking hours writing!
On a personal note, I’m relieved that my dad’s health is improving. Over the past few weeks he was ill and very likely had COVID-19, based on symptoms like shortness of breath. Fortunately, he’s feeling a lot better now. Thanks to all who reached out with words of support.
