Greetings Decision maker
,

The pandemic has forced leaders to recognize the need for effective hybrid and remote team management strategies for the future of work. The old style of performance evaluation, quarterly or annual reviews that relied to a great extent on presence in the office, will no longer be relevant.

That will be a relief to those who endorse evidence-based business practices and a boost to employee productivity, retention, and engagement. Research has shown the benefits of moving away from large-scale quarterly or annual performance reviews. Instead, systematic, frequent, and brief reviews focused on task performance, effective feedback and coaching, and guidance in wise decision-making, will replace it in organizations that want to survive and thrive in the post-COVID world.

Dr. Gleb gave an outstanding virtual presentation on unconscious bias to our corporate partners. His insights on how to recognize and solve unconscious bias combine a deep experience as a consultant and trainer for Fortune 500 companies with a thorough evidence-based, science-informed approach. Based on the polls during the presentation, the attendees found the materials very useful and applicable to their context, and plan to integrate Dr. Gleb's insights to address unconscious bias so as to make the best people decisions. Dr. Gleb's presentation style was highly engaging and dynamic. He's incredibly easy to work with as a speaker and accommodated all of our needs in a flexible manner. I strongly recommend Dr. Gleb as a speaker on unconscious bias and look forward to engaging him in the future.

Recent Public Appearances

While I have a number of articles out recently, I’ll only list one today, and ask you to help me celebrate: it’s my first article in Harvard Business Review, the world’s #1 venue for business publications. I submitted many articles to them over the years, and this is the first one they accepted, on virtual asynchronous brainstorming. Having worked with their editors, I can see why it’s the top business venue: they worked with me much more on editing than other venues did, with a thorough rewrite and reconsideration of nearly every word. I’m really proud of how the piece turned out. Let me know your thoughts about it and please share it widely.

What's Up With Me

Had an enlightening experience filming two online courses for Madecraft, an innovative online learning company, in their studio in Santa Barbara. I got a taste of what actors experience: they took 30 minutes to do my makeup and then spent two hours adjusting my clothing, lighting, and positioning, all before doing any filming! Then, we spent a great deal of time filming, doing multiple takes for each lesson of the two courses until the directors were satisfied. It took two days of filming to get content for about two hours of course content, so one day per course. While the process was difficult at times, at least I can feel confident that the product will be excellent.

Recommendations for You

What are some things you did where you put yourself into the hands of experts that you thought were a real pain in the neck during the process, but were worth it in the end? How can you handle such things better going forward? For example, I used meditation to manage myself and took breaks when I felt my energy flagging. What kind of steps can you take to manage your own experience? My recommendation is to think through these steps in advance to help yourself have the least uncomfortable and most rewarding experience in such situations.

Help Me Serve Your Needs

How have you conducted performance evaluations for employees working remotely during the pandemic? What innovations have you adopted to bolster hybrid and remote workers’ productivity? How do you plan to facilitate remote team management based on this article/video/podcast?

Would love to get your feedback! Helping you avoid dangerous threats and missed opportunities is my highest aspiration. Any feedback you can provide on this content - or anything else - will help me provide you with more value for your success.

Decisively Yours,
