What's Up With Me
Seeing a glacier up close for the first time is an unforgettable experience, and I’m so glad that I had the opportunity to do so on my recent trip to Alaska. The phrase “frozen river” doesn’t do it justice. You see the many cracks in the ice, the debris that the glacier scraped off the rocks it ground down over millennia, and the ice field from which it originates. And most importantly, you see the body of water created by the glacier and the icebergs that break from it as the glacier retreats due to climate change.
This experience really made me think about the long-term impact of many small actions that together add up to a huge impact. And it reinforced the value of long-term thinking - prioritizing the five or ten-year timeline - rather than responding to what seems urgent in the moment. I’m going to work hard on focusing on important and not urgent activities that will make a difference in the long term, and hope you will do so as well.
