Greetings Decision maker
,

Strong relationships with your organization’s stakeholders will go a long way in helping you forecast and identify problems, as well as formulate and roll out effective solutions. However, these kinds of relationships are not built overnight. Aside from identifying your key stakeholders and learning the truth about them, you also have to keep the connection by making them feel understood. Once you have already established a connection with your stakeholders, maintaining it will largely depend on assuring them, on a deeper level, that you care about them and also have their best interests in mind. To demonstrate this, you need to learn about and use specific social intelligence skills.

To learn about these skills, check out this blog.

What's Up With Me

The highlight of last month was receiving this unsolicited and heartfelt message from someone who has found my resources about adapting to the pandemic valuable. Julia Morton is the director of The Haven in Stonehaven, a small nonprofit organization located in northeast Scotland, and I’m including her message below. This is the difference I hope to make for those who participate in my webinars and engage with my work, and it was incredibly meaningful to learn that I succeeded.

I first came across your work when a peer mentor sent me a link to your Non Profit Webinar at the very beginning of the pandemic. It was absolutely life-changing for me and the small grassroots organisation I founded. I had a deeper understanding that this was a "marathon not a sprint."

Essentially for the past 9 months I have been trying to upskill and integrate your guidance. We diversified from a community wellbeing space that takes an early intervention and prevention approach to mental health and transformed our yoga studio into a community food larder (like a food bank but people are empowered to choose their own food). We also now collect tonnes of food waste in our community and redistribute it to those in need.

It was your wisdom that planted the seed for this, and for that I am eternally grateful you helped a small Scottish community by the sea through the pandemic.

I came looking for more of your knowledge because I was curious at how this "mutant" strain may have changed your information. I finished watching your webinar with the PMI Mile Hi and then found you on Twitter. I also found the article you recently wrote on how the new strain will affect us.

Please accept my gratitude at how much sharing your resources for free have really truly helped me navigate through this professionally and personally.

Your considered, reassuring, calm, kind and measured messaging is a tonic to the mind and soul. Keep being you and doing what you do.
